This project, funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, will explore Alberta's 6 natural regions.

Trip pushes the boundaries of sound with "counterpoint, grotesque waltzes, canons, and even the occasional unexpected appearance of sounds from a live-tuned radio". This list shines a spotlight on Canada's emerging classical musicians who are winning competitions and awards, graduating from top music schools, and making exciting debuts.

New this year, Canada's National Arts Centre Orchestra will feature musicians from this list in its ongoing series NACO Lunch Breaks and Musically Speaking with Alexander Shelley, and through performances streamed from the NAC's 4th Stage.

]]><![CDATA[Gabrielle Despres Takes 1st Prize]]>Sat, 13 Jun 2020 01:43:11 GMThttps://www.burrowsfoundation.org/recipient-news/gabrielle-despres-takes-1st-prizeCurrent scholarship recipient, Gabrielle Després, just received first prize in the Klein International String Competition! This includes a $13,000 prize and performance contracts with the Peninsula and Santa Cruz Symphonies, the Gualala Arts Chamber Music Series, and Music in the Vineyards.
 
The Klein International String Competition is one of the most prestigious events of its kind and has helped to enhance the developing careers of young string players (ages 15-23), many of whom have gone on to become world renowned soloists, chamber musicians, teachers, and orchestral members.
