ABMF alumnus, William, is a violinist, fiddler, teacher, professional coach, and consultant. He is also a member of the Miró Quartet, and professor at the Butler School of Music at The University of Texas at Austin. Jason Cutmore, former ABMF recipient, accomplished pianist, and founder of the Alberta Pianofest Society, is presenting the Society's third festival since their formation in 2011. This year's Alberta Pianofest will have a wider range of events than previous years with 10 concerts, including four major-artist recitals, a young artists’ showcase, and, new for this year, a number of pre-concert talks and panel discussions. Andrew Wan, who is currently the concertmaster of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, will be contributing back to his hometown as an Artistic Partner with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra! In addition to working with the ESO throughout the concert season, he will also be appearing more frequently as a guest soloist.

Congratulations to Ewald Cheung, violinist and former ABMF scholarship recipient, for becoming a member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in Fall 2018!
Just this past weekend, he gave a beautiful performance of Dvorak's Piano Quintet No. 2 in A Major at the Summer Solstice Music Festival, alongside fellow musicians Robert Uchida (violin), Juan-Miguel Hernandez (viola), Rafael Hoekman (cello), and Patricia Tao (piano). Cellist and former ABMF Scholarship recipient, Amanda Forsyth, was recently featured in the Calgary Herald, alongside her husband, Pinchas Zukerman, and another ABMF alumni, Angela Cheng! They have performed together as the "Zukerman Trio" since 2011, and most recently performed at Mount Royal University's Bella Concert Hall in Calgary.
Angela Cheng, renowned concert pianist and the original ABMF scholarship recipient, has made regular guest appearances in virtually every orchestra in Canada, as well as with symphonies around the world.
2017-18 was a busy season for her, both as a member of the internationally renowned Zukerman Trio, and for her individual pursuits. She taught a Masterclass at the Toronto Summer Music Festival in July 2017, and performed the Ravel Piano Concerto in G Major with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in October 2017, and with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in January 2018. She recently performed a solo recital at the Muttart Hall in June 2018, wowing audiences with her - as usual - brilliant technique, tonal beauty and love of music. Dongkyun, a talented cellist and former ABMF scholarship recipient, has become the newest member of the Lipkind Quartet! They recently had a guest artist prepare a newly formed ensemble for a Schubert Quintet, and are currently working on pieces by Stravinsky, Bloch, Dvorak, and Beethoven.
Karl Schwonik, whose musical career as a drum artist was already well established, has recently received a number of accolades. In June 2017, he was included in CBC's list of the 35 best Canadian jazz artists under 35!
His band was also named the winner of the 2017 Reinstein Jazz Competition hosted by the University of Cambridge. This is one of the top competitions in Europe and comes with a cash prize as well as a performance at a London jazz club. Finally, he will be moving to the city of Medicine Hat, Alberta, in August, to take on an Associate Dean position at Medicine Hat College! Former ABMF recipient, Mikolaj Warszynsky, is in the midst of his European recital tour! On May 26, 2018, he performed 3 archival prints at the Liszt Museum in Budapest, which will be included in his upcoming Lisztomania CD, to be released on September 1, 2018. On June 9, 2018, he will be performing in St-Merry church in Paris as part of the Accueil Musicale concert season. The recital will also mark the European release of his previous album for the French label, Anima Records.
